Canadore College of Applied Arts and Technology opened its doors in 1967. It has taken pride in creating the best possible environment for learning and is the college of choice for students from across the province and around the world. The college focus is on student success, program and service excellence, connection to community, sustainability and innovation. It graduates approximately 1,000 students each year and has over 40,000 alumni. The college has the diversity of culture and experience their International Students bring to Canadore, and make each student?s transition to Canada as easy as possible by providing orientation, transportation, accommodation and other services. The learning environment at Canadore focuses on student success and is supportive of diversity. Educational technology tools are used effectively to support teaching and learning. Students follow a variety of pathways between programs within and external to the College. The programs offered by the College meet or exceed the provincial quality assurance standards, lead to employment in both traditional and emerging fields, and include experiential learning opportunities to link students to the real world.
The students can start with a warm and friendly atmosphere, highly trained faculty and caring support staff, state-of-the-art facilities. It?s personal approach to education is based on the belief that a balance between academics and practical experience will better prepare students to face the demands of the workplace globally. The students have more opportunities to take advantage of both of the educational systems in the province. Several of the college programs have agreements where students may transfer from a college program directly into an upper year of a university degree program. Canadore offers Sport and Wellness programs to fit students schedule and lifestyle. It has recreation, extramural, and varsity teams and leagues, fitness and wellness classes and facilities, and a lot of recreational and fun events and activities to choose from.
Residence is a great way to meet new people and make lifelong friends. Institution provides not only a place to live, but also a welcoming and safe environment where students can get involved and grow within the community. It has three apartment-style residences in North Bay that accommodate 675 students located at the bottom of College Drive. Secure complexes are wheelchair accessible, and it is the only college residence in Ontario to offer full kitchens with ovens/stoves in every suite. Residence is a safe and secure housing option with secure entrances, a front desk staffed 24/7, and video surveillance cameras.
In the beautiful city of North Bay, just 180 minutes north of Toronto, students can discover three easily accessible campuses namely the Aviation Campus, Commerce Court and the Education Centre, which is situated on a stunning 650 acre wooded escarpment overlooking the city. It also has a new and beautiful campus located in Parry Sound, Ontario, right between Barrie and Sudbury. The library at the College Drive Campus is world class with information technology and research capability usually found only at large universities.
